Motor oil is essential to the proper functioning of any internal combustion engine, including those in a new Chevy Silverado 1500. However, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of different types of oil, formulated for all the different types of engines on Delta roads. If you’re a DIY auto enthusiast, you’ll need to know which oil changes are best for your Chevy Silverado 1500. Using the right motor oil ensures optimal performance, and it can even save you money.
Learn more about the proper Chevy Silverado 1500 oil type with the Turner Automotive, Inc. service team below. And if you need your vehicle’s oil changed, come and see our service department for expert maintenance your pickup deserves. If you have any questions, our team can help with that as well!
While you should always consult your owner’s manual for the most accurate information, the best oil type for a 2026 Silverado 1500 near Telluride is a full synthetic oil that meets the GM dexos1 specification. For 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines, use SAE 0W-20 grade oil. For the 2.7L I4 engine, you need SAE 5W-30 grade oil. And if you live in an area where it gets extremely cold (below -20º F), you can use SAE 0W-30.
What’s the difference between synthetic and conventional oil? At Turner Automotive, Inc., we recommend full synthetic oil because it simply works better and helps your engine last longer. However, full synthetic oil also costs more—but it also helps you save money in the long run by requiring fewer oil changes.
Either way, your oil life system will tell you when to change the oil, though you can always call us at (970) 249-6691 or check your owner’s manual.
If you don’t have time or the know-how for a DIY oil change near Ridgway, contact our service department to schedule an oil change and filter replacement. We’re here to help you get your Chevy in good shape and back out on the road.
